Pastors & Staff

Jason Berl

Pastor;  Director of Preaching & Head of Staff

Jason was born and raised in Moultrie, GA, and he began loving and trusting in Jesus in high school. He attended GCSU in Milledgeville, GA, where he met his wife Bonnie. Jason and Bonnie were married in 2009 and both began teaching for Bibb County Schools that same year. Two years later they moved to Orlando, FL for Jason to attend Reformed Theological Seminary, where he studied Counseling and Biblical Studies. Jason and Bonnie have three children, Bryce, Blake, and Kelsey Grace.
Jason graduated from Reformed Theological Seminary in May 2014 and joined the Sojourn Church leadership team in July 2014. For three years he practiced as a professional counselor at Sojourn. In August of 2017 he transitioned from a focus on counseling to the position of Director of Preaching and Head of Staff.
Most of his free time is spent hanging out with Bonnie or wrestling with Bryce, Blake, and Kelsey Grace. He also enjoys reading a good book, fishing, and watching or playing a variety of sports.

Josh Maloy

Pastor;  Director of Music

Josh grew up in Conyers, GA and God rescued him at an early age. In 2007 he married his bride Meghan, and God has since blessed them with four children: Samiah, Christiana, Jolene, and J.R. In 2012 they spent a year in Nashville seeking God’s will and direction for Josh as a musician. It became clear that his passion and calling consisted of leading worship in the church and playing for prisoners and men recovering from drug addiction. It goes without saying that Johnny Cash is Josh’s greatest musical influence. He also feels called to write songs for the local church that tangibly lead people through pain and into hope in the gospel. In the summer of 2013, God brought Josh and his family to Sojourn Church and they are glad to call Middle GA their home.

Lee Wright

Pastor

Lee still lives in his hometown of Cochran, where both he and his wife, Kim, grew up. They were high school sweethearts and married after graduating from college, Kim from the University of Georgia and Lee from Georgia Tech. The Holy Spirit used a season of struggling with infertility to increase their faith in God and their affections for Jesus. After five years and many prayers, God blessed them with a son, Christopher, and again six years later with a daughter, Holly. Lee is employed at Robins AFB and in his free time enjoys a wide variety of activities including tent camping and hiking in the North Georgia mountains, barbecuing and grilling, and DIY projects around the house. One of Lee's greatest joys as a pastor of Sojourn Church is simply witnessing God at work to call people to Himself and transform them through the application of the gospel to every area of life.

Brittany Grimm

Children's Ministry Director

Brittany was born in Savannah, Ga and began loving and following Jesus at a young age. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Early Childhood Education. After graduation, Brittany started teaching third grade in Houston County. In 2015, Brittany married her high school sweetheart Caleb. The next year the Lord blessed her family with Ella. During her free time Brittany enjoys spending time with her family, having play dates with friends, watching Netflix, reading books, and drinking lots of coffee. Brittany loves meeting new people and developing friendships. She can’t wait to see how the Lord works through the kids and families at Sojourn!

Brian Matthew

Youth Director

Brian grew up in Chino Hills, CA and was raised in the church, but actively started following Jesus in Middle School. He graduated from Azusa Pacific University which is also where he met his wife Amanda. Brian and Amanda got married in 2013 and moved to Aspen, CO where they had three children: Emery, Nora, and Marlow. Brian was the Children and Families Pastor at Crossroads Church of Aspen and was heavily involved in youth ministry through Aspen Valley Young Life for many years. In 2022, Brian and his family moved to Middle GA as God opened up Brian’s dream job, and he became the Youth Director at Sojourn Church. He loves getting to foster relationships with youth, being involved in their world, and helping them navigate their teenage years with a reckless pursuit of Jesus. Brian also enjoys baseball, Cornhole, frisbee, watching football, silly games, but mostly being around others, having fun, and laughing until his cheeks hurt.
